6 New Music Genres You Need To Hear

6 New Music Genres You Need To Hear and some bonus songs

Fresh Music genres: They come and go, but give a lasting impression (or not). This is a look at what 2016 has to offer both in new up and coming artists and established artists coloring outside the lines. Whether you're writing about music or describing a band to your friend who's slowly adopting that patient-but-definitely-not-getting-it expression, then you know....

New genres of music

Electronic Stoner Rock

This music genre was coined by the artist/producer Fuzz Heady. Electronic Stoner Rock combines electronic music genres such as trap, glitchhop, dubstep, house, and DnB and Psy-trance with bluesy Stoner/Psychedelic rock riffs often over hiphop beats. Songs are often instrumental, but can have vocals as well like in the track below. This genre combines modern electronic music technology, but has a classic rock feel to it as well. Fuzz Heady is a mysterious  character who wears his hair over his face and has been compared to "Cousin It" from the Adams Family in appearance. People refer to him/her as "Cousin Lit" Do you have HIGH standards? Give Electronic Stoner Rock a chance and hear why it is not just for stoners. Hit the play button below to hear it:

Dark Bass

This underground music genre is the fusion between the electronic genre Bass Music, Triphop, & Industrial. Sort of the counter culture to the whole EDM moment. This song has the big heavy bass like many EDM records, but has the raw, dark, deep vibes of other more organic forms of music. This is a cover song original by Nirvana. The artist behind this style are Lauren Stone and Ohmanac to form Plush City. Enjoy Dark BASS?

Progressive Heavy Electro Rock

Just when you think rock is dead a New genres of rock music appears. Is Electro Dance Metal or Tin-Foil  Dance Music? Nope! This genre fuses elements of metal, Rock, and EDM.

This genre boasts high energy tracks. This genre of music that makes you want to mosh or dance! The beats are big and modern like in EDM tracks, but the arrangements are more aggressive and progressive like in rock and metal music. Instruments use live sounds like guitars and synth elements like wobbles bass and saw waves. This genre often hasmultiple genres of EDM like electro, dubstep, trap, and others in one song. Vocals can have rapping verses or singing hooks. See Also Celldweller, Blue Stahli, Linkin Park, Enter Shikari, Starset, & The Maniac Agenda.

Pioneers of this genre are the co-producers of the Metal Gear Rising video game soundtrack The Maniac Agenda!

Air Pop

This genre combines elements of ambient, Trip-hop, Pop, and Psy Rock. Big dirty hiphop breaks, 808s or live bass control the bottom usually with the vocals being calm, dark, soft, or mysterious. Band like Portishead, Hooverphonic, and Massive Attack started this in the triphop golden years, but artist like Lana Del Ray, The Neighborhood, Housey, Lordes, and Lauren Stone have been pushing the envelope.

Glitch Soulazz

Definition: (See jazzstep); an amalgamation of gitchhop or DJ-produced electronic music with traditional jazz or blues elements.

It's  not jazz. It's also not your  normal wobble nerd glitchy hop (in fact, it's better). Moby was an early dabbler in Glitch Jazz, but guys like Pretty Lights and The Marvel Years have been expanding the genre ever since.

See also: Gramatik, Big Gigantic, Free The Robots.

Country DANCE Music

Definition: (See inexplicable); Country Dance Music, where a 4-on-the-floor beat and electronic production are overlaid with folk or country-like melodies and vocals.

Where, oh where, did CDM come from? Maybe the music industry got bored and decided to experiment with two of history's most hate-it-or-love-it genres. Either way, here it is, and if Pitbull's 'Timber' sticks around on the charts any longer, then CDM might be here to stay.

See also: Avicii

Example of CDM:

Space Trap

Definition: A low-gloss style of  trap, where the rapper crafts urban stories over spacey 808 filled grooves

Tree Thuggers with a open mind!

Example of space trap:

Good to hear some new stuff will be happening now in 2015. I just heard more Progressive Heavy Electro Rock recently but didn't know it was a genre before now. I didn't know anyone other than you guys did it until I heard someone I recently began following on Twitter and Facebook make that kind of music. Some links: https://www.facebook.com/JordanaOfficial/videos/10154739593234815/ https://www.reverbnation.com/jordanaofficial The first of which reminds me a little bit of your remix of Let It Die. Others are kinda dubstepish or DnB is

Music and word map lovers rejoice — we've found a toy just for you. The new year is a perfect time to overhaul your music rotation, but if you're looking for new songs, you might as well become familiar with a new genre altogether. Every Noise at Once is a website that helps you search through more than 1300 musical genres in a giant scatter plot. You may have heard of K-pop or Korean pop, but what about J-rap (Japanese rap)? The site lets you browse through music from nation to nation, from Basque rock to Swedish synthpop. Here you'll find the most contradictory labels from deep happy hardcore to heavy Christmas. And despite whatever skepticism you may have about these genres' actual existence, each one leads to a myriad of tunes from plenty of artists to give you a taste. every noise at once There are a few ways to navigate this site. It uses the Echo Nest, a music data platform, to compile information about each genre to organize the options in different displays. If you browse through the map, the titles' arrangement is computer generated and loosely based on the tempo, style and Internet popularity of the music — the bigger it is, the more searched it is. Similar genres are laid out near each other, and as you read left to right within the area, you can get a sense of how severe or calm the genre will be. For instance, along the top, the map moves from deep house music on the right to softer trance on the left. With the list option, you can pick a genre you're already familiar with and then reorder the list to show other music styles that are similar. You can also search your favourite artist to get a sense of which categories their work falls into. Hi everyone First and most important: This comment is NOT meant to be taken offensive or personal! (only continue reading if you understand this) I was like aimless surfing the internet looking for some silly genre titles. And I always find someone giving me what I come for. That is how I came across this article here. And to my expectation it did not disappoint. I found some crazy genre names first only to be confronted with music that already exists with already existing genre names for quite a while. So nothing new. But let me give you all some ideas why these pieces of music presented here are far from new and do not need a new genre name. Your example for BASS MUSIC is just a lazy genre name invented for no reason. This piece of music there is like Depeche Mode from the 80s combined with some dubstep. Sounds exactly like some slow going new wave with some dubstep thrown in. Hence it is a more raw electronic form of New Wave. Progressive Heavy Electro Rock Air Pop? I bet this popped up because someone did not enough research for all the genres that already exist and to do a close inspection based on what is there. You can change the sound here and there. But when I hear New Wave music I can't be fooled. And you know New Wave is not really 2016. It is so8os! Glitch Souljazz. Alright. Glitch as is has never been a fully accepted/integrated genre. It was maybe an idea once that however never made it to be fully developed into its own full genre definition. No nerdgasms please. And just fyi, the name Parov Stelar should ring a bell here. He did this kind of music already several years ago and is still doing that kind of stuff. It went under the monicker 'electro swing' and 'electro jazz'. One of the songs hitting this type of music you posted up there is 'Let's Roll' (Parov Stelar) or songs like 'Princess'. Forget about words like glitch. And we all know that electro swing is based on modern hip hop beats, soul and classic swing music. So no need to include the words hip or hop, soul, or whatever in any way. And definitely not glitch. That never made sense. Pitbull and COUNTRY DANCE? Come on. Madonna did this in 200 with her album MUSIC. Or Taylor Swift may ring a bell. So you are too late in here again to invent something new because it is that old to stumble over its own beard. And we know that Country Dance is not the proper genre name. Back in the 90s nobody, and I mean really not one person ever, called REDNEX' Cotton Eye Joe 'High Energy Rave Country' or something like 'Electro Banjo Redneck Rave'. But the last one really did me for good. ORCHESTRAL IDM? PLEASE? First let me get clear on this IDM thing. There is no "intelligent dance music" to begin with. And what I heard as examples of IDM is neither intelligent nor can I dance to it. And yes it might account for music. But I give you this serious advice as to listen to a lot of works from one particular guy -> Jean-Michel Jarre. I bet this type(s) of music makes your genre inventing brain explode in sheer disbelief. I bet an inexperienced person with a hyperladden mind would call it "Symphonic Space Opera Trance Ambient NeoClassical'. Do you see already how silly this new wave of genre name inventing without any good reason is? I understand you new youngsters need your own playground and you want to redefine the rules and reinvent like everything, giving even the most useless stuff new names. But this is not how reality works out. So please. Before you happy young people out there invent genre names for no good, do serious research beforehand. It might spare you some unnecessary nerdy genre talks in public. There is not need to try to separate yourself from previous generations that makes you simple rename already existing genres. What is important is to know what genre in each piece of music dominates and what other genres were blended into it or simply mixed in for only specific parts. Unfortunately a lot of none existing genres were slapped around the internet and new none existing genres are born out of these already none existing other genres, making genre talk all useless and giving rise to people who like to denounce genres as useless classifications because a lot of people are overdoing it on purpose or based on sheer lack of experience and knowledge on the existing. Sure new genres are born. But it has to make sense. Like this nonsense genres Shoe Gaze or Crab Core makes no sense other than being a sort of rock music. How the musicians behave, what they wear on stage or where or how they gaze around does not attribute to the music itself, that is why these things do not belong in genre names. Gazing down the floor or holding a position as if you pretend to take a shit does not describe the type of music these guys are displaying. Greetings from Germany

You are right... These 6 genres are awesome and will change the way of listening music. But still, there is a huge crowd that listen to the oldies music via android apps and online.

all these new "genres" are totally shit to me. the only thing that I heard in this list remotely close to music was the "space trap" , that is, as a matter of fact, chillout with a rap on it. stop writing bullshit, and stop (for the youngsters) producing shit. times must change- the real music will return-motherfuckers
